South African Consulate Hosts Multinational African Delegation Dinner at Albany, Bahamas
On 2 May 2025, in conjunction with the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) Workshop convened in Nassau, The Bahamas, the South African Consulate had the distinct honour of hosting a private diplomatic dinner in celebration of visiting dignitaries from across the Southern African region. The event brought together Members of Parliament and representatives from the Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and Western Cape Provincial Legislatures of the Republic of South Africa, as well as from the Kingdom of Eswatini.
The Consulate was privileged to welcome a number of distinguished guests, including Her Excellency Ambassador Jerusa Ali, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, and His Excellency Edison Sumner, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Namibia. Also in attendance was Ms. Candia Knowles, Executive Editor of The Nassau Guardian.
Set in an atmosphere of collegiality and cultural exchange, the evening was further enhanced by musical performances from renowned Bahamian artists Stazzie and Daniel. The Consulate expresses its sincere appreciation to Ms. Yvonne Smith, Albany Events, Albany Concierge, Albany Security, and Chef Roberto Cadenas for their exceptional support and hospitality. Grateful acknowledgment is also extended to Mr. Roderick Wells for his professional documentation of the evening through photography.
The Consulate further extends its thanks to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force for its valued presence and contribution to ensuring the security and decorum of the evening.
This gathering served as a meaningful complement to the CWP Workshop, held under the theme “Parliamentarians as Drivers of Women’s Economic Empowerment.” The Workshop convened parliamentarians from across the Commonwealth in pursuit of shared goals surrounding gender equality and inclusive governance.
